How to equip your car for the zombie apocalypse.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of these guys, Mighty Car Mods. This 15 minute video has stellar production value and has great tips for surviving the zombie apocalypse, including an introduction of must-read books like: “How to build your own power generator,” and “Eat Shit and Live.”

Holy crap, the driving in this clip is excellent but it’s the course that really amazes me. I’ve never seen a rally with such narrow lanes before. I’m shocked by the number of “maybes” in the course book too. Somehow I imagine that when you’re careening towards the side of a hill at 80 mph you don’t want any part of your navigator’s directions to include “maybe.”

Anyone who doesn’t get car sick (and has no fear of death) want to get into rally with me? Apparently all you need is a cheap e30

Older chests reveal themselves
Like a crack in a wall
Starting small, and grow in time
And we all seem to need the help
Of someone else
To mend that shelf
of too many books

Cars 2 trailer just released! Help me identify all the cars in it.

Can anyone ID what kind of car Finn MacMissile (is that Michael Caine?!) is? (I’m reading another article that pegs MacMissile as the infamous Aston Martin DB5 from the James Bond movie Goldfinger. I don’t know, that grille is looking more Fisker than Aston and the side vents have louvres in them…)

Also, I’ve been pausing the video at frames to try to ID the cars. So far among the other World Grand Prix cars I see: a C6 Corvette, an Aston Martin DBS, a race-Honda NSX (?), and at least one Le Mans style prototype and a Formula style prototype.

In the airport scene I’m seeing a Nissan Versa (?) without shoes on, and Scion xB’s as the security people.

In the Japanese street I think that’s a Euro-spec Civic hatch in the front, at least TWO s30 Z’s (including an orange one, with a white one going the opposite direction).

MacMissile’s female partner appears to be some kind of ambiguous, modernized Jaguar XKS-ish curvy car.

In the “there he is!” scene the bad guys are Pintos, there’s an obvious Audi TT and a Maserati Quattroporte.

American car ownership seems fun

I just ordered a three year subscription of Hot Rod Magazine for only $25! People who know me well know that I love all kinds of cars and bikes. My loves range from fire-breathing, turbo-spooling rally monsters to prototype motorcycle racers to quaint British roadsters…and on and on and on. One of my favorite types of cars are pre-war American hot rods and I’ve discovered that I not only love the simplistic, muscular vehicles, but I really appreciate the culture too. I’m looking forward to getting Hot Rod Magazine in my mailbox every month! I’ll celebrate this occasion with two relevant photos.

I discovered Philip Hall’s pinup photography sometime last year.
He has two more sexy (if somewhat over-post-processed for my tastes) galleries on his website. Based on the filename, the model’s name is Monika.

I’ve been focusing a lot on building the original content on this blog, but here is a gallery that I just couldn’t pass up. Enjoy.
